Fourth and fifth grade students created a collective series of work to honor veterans for Veterans Day this year.
Students created the Ohio flag.
They also made a flag of the United States.
Students also created a poster for the army, navy , air force, marines and the coast guard.
After drawing the design and tracing it with marker, students added a wash of watercolor paint for the background.
After retracing the poster with marker, students began to use dots of paint in a pointillistic manner.
Every group began adding dots of color to their art work.
Collectively the work began to take shape as dots and colors began to fill in the design.
It was fun to watch the students take ownership of their work as their skills increased.
All of the students were introduced to new art techniques and design ideas as they worked cooperatively on this project.

Third grade students have been learning about contour and continuous line drawing.
Students have been using “George”, our classroom skeleton, as a model.
These drawing exercises have been forcing the students to explore a new method of drawing.
Everyone has learned new skills in this new method of drawing.
It’s exciting to see students’ drawing skills improve through this process.
The line in a continuous line drawing is unbroken from the beginning to the end. The drawing tool stays in constant contact with the surface of the paper during the entire length of the drawing process.
It has been great fun to see the third graders’ confidence grow in their drawing abilities as the school year progresses.
First grade students explored color as they painted pumpkins.
Students explored various types of oranges and how they are created.
Everyone enjoyed learning about the different types of oranges as they used dots of color to fill their pumpkin paintings.
It was a fun project to discover color mixing concepts in first grade.
Kindergarten students have been exploring painting with warm colors.
Students used dots to fill their leaves.
Everyone enjoyed painting like the impressionists as they used dots of warm colors to paint with.
Third, fourth and fifth grade students participated in the annual National Fire Safety Poster Contest sponsored by the Willard Fire Department.
Students began designing their posters as they figured out how to tell a visual story.
A lot of thought went into creating their posters.
After completing their designs, students added color.
Colored pencil and marker were employed to complete their posters.
Focus and concentration are required to create a great poster that engages the viewer and tells a story.

Second grade students have been learning about the art element of line.
One way students learned about line was exploring how to use a ruler.
Everyone used pencil to create some repeating line in a pattern.
After feeling comfortable with the pencil, students moved on to colored pencil with repeating lines.
Second graders also explored line with scissors.
Everyone learned there are many ways and tools to use line in creating art.
First grade students explored building with squares and rectangles for their first art class this new school year.
Play is a great method for students to learn and explore while engaging their imaginations.
Students used the brightly colored shapes to create buildings, animals, flying machines and objects that can only be found through the creative process.
This was a great opening project to engage the students’ minds, hands and imaginations through visual art.
Our first project of the 2016-2017 school year began with building.
Kindergarten students explored building with 3D geometric shapes.
Everyone was fully engaged as they explored building towers, castles and houses of the future.
We also explored building bridges and skyscrapers.
Learning through play builds skills that young artists use throughout their educational experience. It’s great to start art off with fun!
