Everyone used pencil to create some repeating line in a pattern.
After feeling comfortable with the pencil, students moved on to colored pencil with repeating lines.
Second graders also explored line with scissors.
Everyone learned there are many ways and tools to use line in creating art.
Fourth grade students completed their paintings of character words.
After adding finishing touches to their letter paintings, each group discussed their work.
The final step was to add a coat of gloss to their canvas.
Students really enjoyed working cooperatively on this project.
Each class viewed their work at the end of the project.
Everyone participated in a review of their work and the creative process.
Students were proud of the fact their work will be on view in the building for all to see.

Third grade students completed their shoe projects recently.
Students added color to their ink drawings of shoes.
Students picked related colors from the color wheel, also known as analogous, to create color harmony in their image.
After completing coloring with crayon, students cut out their shoes.
The final step was to pick a background to complement their shoe image.
Students took care in adding final details to their images.

Students first spent a session creating many line drawings in ink using various types of repeated lines.
Using the color wheel, everyone followed a pattern with the employment of their watercolor paint.

Students have been using a continuous line method of drawing the skeleton.
Third graders have been focusing more on the skeleton and less on their drawing as they are building their drawing skills.

Kindergarten students recently explored using their hands as a shape to create art.
Students began by tracing their hands and creating a repeating pattern with their hand shapes.
Everyone repeated this step several times to fill their paper with hand shapes.
The next step was to outline their hands with their favorite crayon colors.
Finally students added various colors, shapes, lines and textures to their repeated overlapping hand designs.
This was a fun project that required focus and attention to details as students completed several tasks in this art-making process.

Third grade students have been using their new knowledge of contour line and continuous line drawing to create skeleton drawings.
Students have been viewing my full size skeleton named “George” and drawing him.
Everyone has been focusing on the skeleton and trying not to look at their paper as they draw.
The goal of this drawing session was for students to have their pencil move with their eyes while looking at the skeleton’s contour.
This required the third graders to focus and concentrate on their subject.
Students created wonderful drawings for their first attempt at drawing such a large model.
Students worked hard learning and applying new skills to their drawings.

Kindergarten students recently created heart paintings and prints using the concept of pointillism.
Students began with a heart pattern and filled them in with warm-colored dots.
After filling in their heart with colorful dots, students made a mono-print of their painting with a new piece of paper.
Next the kindergartners outlined their dot prints with a heart-shaped line.
This was lots of fun for the students and required them to really focus on the art-making process.
Everyone was excited to take their hearts home and give them to their loved ones.

With direction everyone became focused in the short session they have in art each Friday.

Third graders are learning to draw what they see and not draw what they think a shoe looks like.
This process requires a lot of focus from the students.
Students have been using many different mediums from pencils to makers as they use a continuous line with this type of drawing.
